Fully usable and ready to go. Old Herefords are still being dug out of barns and attics to be lovingly reconditioned put back into service.

Is it a real Hereford. All stitching intact. Me history-Hereford-brand-saddle-11732.

Hereford saddles are top of the line and quality made - heres some history on company their products from: animals. This saddle was made before Blevins buckles so I would estimate it to be from the early 1940's. Tree is sound and tight.

Examine all parts of the saddle for makers marks. Lovely Hereford western saddle seat. Its possible the strings have been replaced at some point and I only say this as they are in such good shape - always broken or worn saddles old.

Tex tan Herefords made since 1945 should have serial numbers stamped into the leather likely places to look are on skirt under fender, fender itself and Latino or its keeper. Includes all rigging.

Also has model stamped on back skirt and the traditional Hereford head logo seat. Original wool fleece underneath has some thinning in a few areas shown pic but still lots of life left. Tex tans Hereford saddle, in all its incarnations from roping to barrel racing parade, has gained a reputation for high quality and durability is still widely available, with brisk trade used modern historic examples.

Better known as tex tan, maker of Hereford brand saddles. Check the stirrup leathers for modern Blevins quick-change buckles or older al ray type. All original leather conchs.

Of course, if the leathers are laced it means saddle is really old and has not been updated. The back of candle and top horn may also be marked.

Also includes a very thick green fleece pad shown from fox mountain weavers in picture and your choice of or string cinch. The leather is supple - no cracks or crazing. But this mouthful soon got shrunk down to tex tan. Felt pad underneath fleece in picture not included.

In 1956 it merged with Randy corp. If you find identifying marks, contact tex tan in oakum to see they can pin down when the saddle was made. Please e-mail with any questions. Own a piece of history.

All original and I do not see anywhere this saddle has been repaired. Original wood en oxbow stirrups - if you were going to use this, I would put other on at nearly 80 years old, wouldn't trust. Leather is in amazing shape for its age - no cracks or crazing anywhere on this saddle.
